There aren't many things more delicious than Orange rolls! This recipes end result is the softest orange roll I've ever tasted. Added bonus that they are easy to make!
On Mother's Day my friend Alison delivered the yummiest and softest cinnamon rolls I've ever had! The other day when she was trapped in the car with me I asked her if I could share the recipe with you. Count your blessings she said yes because these little morsels are going to change your life! My beloved Walmart pick-up gave me oranges instead of Cuties, so making Orange Rolls was the obvious move!
I knew Alison's dough was the only option here! As if this dough wasn't already easy and perfect, insert the bread maker machine! If you don't have a bread machine we have instructions below so you can use your KitchenAid or another dough mixer!

Step-By-Step to the perfect dough
I'm convinced these will be the easiest orange rolls you'll ever make. It's so nice to add all the ingredients and walk away for 90 minutes. I always get nervous I'll kill my yeast with water that is too warm, no worrying with the bread machine. It takes all the guess work away!
The dough after the 90 minute "dough" cycle. My friend Alison that shared the recipe said that occasionally she'll let it sit in the bread maker a little longer. This will help the dough rise more since the bread machine will keep the dough warm! Before rolling dough out on a floured surface, preheat over to 150 degrees.
This Microplane Zester is a must! It makes zesting your oranges a breeze!
Orange Roll Filling
- Mix softened butter, 1 cup sugar, and 1 tablespoon orange zest together for the filling. You'll need approximately 2 oranges!
Evenly spread the filling over the dough.
When I roll my dough I leave about a half inch along the horizontal edge closest to me. This will help the dough stick together so your individual rolls won't create a weird tail while baking!
I alway use a stainless steel scraper to cut my orange rolls. Start by cutting the dough log in the middle.
Then cut each half in half again. This will leave you with four equal pieces.
Then cut each of those quarters into three equal pieces!
Place all 12 rolls onto a greased Jelly Roll Pan. Turn the oven off and place the pan in the oven with a towel loosely covering the orange rolls. Leave in warm oven for 30 minutes. Carefully remove rolls from the oven while you preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook rolls for 13 minutes.
Frosting Step-by-step
- Add softened butter, powdered sugar, cream, juice from 1/2 half orange, and 1 Tablespoon orange zest to your mixer.
- Whip together until fluffy.
- Scrape sides as necessary.
Frost and enjoy!
- Cut your rolls with my favorite stainless steel scraper. You'll have perfectly clean cuts. Then use the scraper to clean the flour off our counters!
- A microplane zester will give you the perfect zest!
- Add all your ingredients to the Bread Machine and walk away for 90 minutes!
- When frosting: frost orange rolls immediately for a glaze or wait ten to fifteen minutes for an orange roll with thicker frosting.
