This pie is Rex’s favorite! When we got married I decided I needed to learn the the ways of pie making since this his “birthday cake” substitution every year! My Grandma Arave makes the bests pies and the glaze and pie crust are the two she’s used for years! I hope you enjoy the recipes as much as our family has!
1 (3 oz.) Strawberry, raspberry, or peach jello (according to which fruit you are using)
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
3 heaping tablespoons cornstarch
**For a slab pie you will double the filling glaze, fruit, and pie crust**
In a saucepan mix sugar, cornstarch, and jello with a whisk until combined. Add 2 cups water and bring to a boil- rapidly boil for 2 minutes. Cool to room temperature. As the glaze cools it will thicken. Cut fruit and put in cooled pie crust, pour glaze over fruit and chill in fridge. Garnish with whipped cream and enjoy!
