A truly quick cinnamon roll recipe you can whip up in a jiffy. These delicious morsels are soft and gooey, topped with a creamy icing and alternate cream cheese icing recipe.
Easy and quick cinnamon rolls
Our granny taught us to make these easy cinnamon rolls a few months ago. They are fluffy and gooey all at the same time! Don't ask us how it's possible, but it is! What makes this cinnamon roll recipe so quick? The amount of yeast used!
Step by step instructions
For The Dough:
- Preheat oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit
- Add 3 1/2 cups of warm water to your mixing bowl.
- Now add 3 tablespoons of yeast.
- Next, add 1 cup of oil.
- Then, 3/4 cup white sugar.
- Mix and let sit for 15 minutes.
- While waiting, make your cinnamon roll filling.
- Mix 2 cups of brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon together, set aside.
- Now that water, yeast, oil, and sugar has sat for 15 minutes, add beaten eggs, salt, and flour to the mixture.
- Mix the dough for 3 minutes.
- Flour your counter or pastry cloth.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface into a big rectangle, 1/2'' thick.
- Soften 1/2 cup butter in the microwave.
- Spread butter evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture over the butter.
- Roll dough into a log shape.
- Cut cinnamon rolls out with a sharp knife or piece of floss.
- Place on greased jelly roll pan, 12 rolls per pan.
- Turn off the oven and place rolls inside the warm oven. Let proof for 30 minutes.
- Once the timer goes off, remove rolls from the oven and preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned.
For The Icing:
- Melt 1/2 cup butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Butter should be bubbling and hot.
- Add 1/4 cup heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to butter.
- Mix well until icing is very smooth.
- Ice the cinnamon rolls once they come out of the oven.
Optional Thicker, Cream Cheese Frosting:
- Put 8 oz. softened cream cheese in the bowl of your mixer.
- Add 1 C. softened butter and cream together both cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Next, add 4 cups of powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- Add in 1 Tbsp. of heavy cream
- Allow cinnamon rolls to cool until warm, not hot before frosting them.

- These quick cinnamon rolls taste great warm and cold.
- We highly recommend a tablespoon of butter be put on top of a cold cinnamon roll before reheating in the microwave. It takes it up a notch!
- The icing recipe included is a thinner consistency. You can frost the cinnamon rolls while they are hot.
- The cream cheese frosting is a thicker frosting and is best applied to cinnamon rolls when they are almost all the way cooled down or completely cooled down. If you frost the cinnamon rolls while they are hot, the frosting will melt and not be thick.
