DIY LIGHT FIXTURE
I'm excited to share this DIY LIGHT FIXTURE with you! Globe Electric made this project super simple with their light kit! I used a decorative globe that I purchased from TJ Maxx- the great thing is, you can use any piece you'd like to create the perfect light for your space!
Supplies Needed
- Decorative Object for the Light (globe, metal basket, old cans, jars, and etc...)
- Light Kit
- Power Drill
- HSS Drill Bits (High-speed steel)
- Wire Cutters
- Bulb (I used this one from globe and I'm OBSESSED!)
Your light kit will come with instructions to make either a plug in light or a light that is wired into your ceiling. We went with the light that's wired into the ceiling. We started by cutting the cord to the proper length, then Rex threaded the cord through the light base to ensure it was just the length we wanted!Next using three drill bits (we are amateurs and this was the easiest way to work with the thin metal) starting with the smallest I stabilized the globe while Rex drilled through the metal. Once done with the smallest we worked our way through using the second and third bit.
The globe was pretty hot from the friction so we ran it under cold water to cool it off. Next, thread the cord through the hole of the ceiling plate and hang the light! It was that easy!! All materials needed to hang the light are included in your light kit!
If you make your own light fixture we'd LOVE to see your finished piece! Thanks for stopping by!
