Why Should You Moisturize?

Moisturizing is a vital part of a healthy skin care routine. I will practically beg you to use moisturizer if you keep reading ๐Ÿ™‚
When I have a client lying on my table, and we are talking about their skin care routine, I always want to know what moisturizer they are using. It never ceases to amaze me when they tell me they don't use moisturizer!!! Moisturizing is absolutely essential to having healthy skin. Moisturizers typically either trap moisture in your skin to keep it from escaping, or they restore moisture in the outer layer of skin that's already been lost.

Do you ever notice when someone looks like they are glowing? That dewy, glowing look, comes from moisturizing (and exfoliating).

What if you have oily skin? You still need to use moisturizer! I would recommend a lightweight moisturizer, even oil free. Here is a theory to think about: If you are not moisturizing your skin, your oil glands will over compensate for the lack of moisture, therefore producing more oil. If you fall into this category, start with a really lightweight moisturizer. Use it consistently for a few weeks. Your oil production should even out. If it doesn't, visit a dermatologist.....or......just get used to that dewy feeling.

What if you hate the way moisturized skin feels? You will get used to it! And when you go without, you will feel itchy and tight. Not a good feeling.

What if you have acne and you think moisturizer will break you out even more? No way. Erase this theory from your mind. A good moisturizer will not do this. I cannot stress enough how important it is to moisturizer your skin when you have acne. Not only will it prevent future breakouts (by protecting your barrier), but it will help the acne lesions you have to heal faster and more efficiently. Your "barrier" is a protection for your skin from pollutants in the environment,

Moisturized skin looks beautiful, healthy, and plump. If you want to slow down aging, and reverse any signs of aging, this is a great place to start. Also don't forget to drink plenty of water!

Invest in your skin now. It will pay off later. It is worth the money and time to take care of your skin.

Remember:

Cleanse- morning and night
Exfoliate- 2-3 times a week
Moisturize- morning and night

If you need help picking out a moisturizer that works for you, visit your nearest esthetician, or email me and I can help answer any questions!
