Fresh Pressed Apple Cider
The past few years our dad has been pressing his own Apple Cider and it is delicious!! Seriously, I'm hoping to find an ice chest big enough to sneak a few gallons back to Missouri! Here are a few pictures from Saturdays pressing!
The bucket is lined with a mesh bag.
The apples are put through the grinder, while you turn the "flywheel" fast. When the mesh lined bucket if full you, you cover the top of the apple pulp with the excess mesh bag, and you place the plate Marve is holding on the bucket.
Then you you start turning the "pressing screw" until it's as tight as you can get it. This is pressing the juice from the pulp.
Our dad picked these gallon jugs up for 75 cents a piece. He's watching Criminal Minds right now, so he said he doesn't remember where he bought them!!
****WARNING WILL CAUSE SEVERE ABDOMINAL CRAMPING!!!!!
If you are interested in investing in a press of your own, our dad got his from Happy Valley Ranch out of Oregon. You can check it out here.
