Scald milk. I put mine in the microwave for 5 minutes. Add milk to shortening, sugar, karo, and salt. Mix and when lukewarm, add the yeast mixture. Add beaten egg, mashed potatoes, and potato water to mixture. Mix, then add flour gradually until dough is stiff leaves the side of the bowl. Knead dough for 5 minutes, then move to an oiled bowl. Let it rise until it has tripled in size. Mine took 2 hours. Roll dough out until it is 1/3'' thick on a floured surface. Cut out doughnuts and allow to rise for another hour. Heat oil and fry doughnuts. Place on a paper towel to get off excess oil, then immediately dip in glaze. **Use an electric egg beater when mashing your mashed potatoes so they are smooth and not lumpy.
